New Handmade By digi stamp and card template

I thought this might come in useful for people who make digi or hybrid cards and don’t want to buy a stamp. You can personalise it and resize it and it is in png format so will be transparent on any background.
A different style of stepper card with a frame front, makes a really lovely card.
Both are in my stores now!

A fire hazard warning for you!

On Monday afternoon my daughter’s tumble dryer caught fire. My eldest grandson was off school and in the house alone for a short while and thanks to him, he knew exactly what to do and when he discovered the fire, left the house, ran to a neighbour and called 999 and then called his Mum who was with me and we rushed over to the house, luckily we were just minutes away but found a very frightened and upset young man standing on the drive with the neighbours. If it hadn’t been for his quick thinking things could have been far worse but the devastation caused is beyond belief. What might have happened is unthinkable. The house is uninhabitable mainly due to smoke damage and they won’t be able to live in it for 3-4 months as everything has to come out and be cleaned professionally and the whole house stripped and redecorated. All they had was what they stood up in and it has been such an awful shock for us all. I am so proud of Ryan but also so thankful no-one was hurt. We are managing to get by and salvaged some clothes so my washing machine has been constantly on! My daughter and the children are staying with me for the moment and they have been so good mucking in. Hopefully the insurance company will be able to sort out a short term let for them so they can all be together with Dad soon.

The Fire Brigade told us never to leave dishwashers, tumble driers or washing machines going when you are out or at night as they are often culprits of fires. I would never have thought that and am guilty of leaving my dryer and dishwasher on at night, but never, ever again.

This was a Hotpoint dryer 4 years old and there was no reason to think this would happen.

The cloakroom after the firemen had put the fire out and removed the dryer.

The dryer – completely burnt out and all the clothes inside were burnt too 😦

Couple of good bargains!

I went into Rymans today and they have their bright white coated card on a BOGOF offer! It goes through the printer beautifully and takes the colour really well but also is fabulous for colouring with Promarkers or Copics. Well worth getting while it is on offer!

The other day I went onto Wilkinson’s website and got these 2 fabulous deep photo frames for a bargain price, the 6×6 was 3.25 and the 12×12 was 6.25 – I had them delivered to my local store and picked them up today and they are fab. I want to make a couple of shadow box pictures using little bits and bobs so these will come in very handy!

Fathers Day

I made this today for my dear Dad. I used Bo Bunny Timepiece papers to make an easel card and used my own digi postcard stamps and my own greeting plaque and the word DAD I used crackle glaze on but it hasn’t cracked like I hoped so I don’t know what I did wrong!! Added a Tim Holtz clip to hold the postcards and a little Made with Love charm from Crafts U Love. I used another DAD word as an easel stopper on the inside.

Boys card

Boys and men are always difficult and it is my Grandson Will’s 12th birthday this month but I was quite pleased with how this turned out so made it into a kit to download in store! Nitwits graphics and a simple square card and 3d the boy and his dog to give a bit of dimension.

Mini Banana Nut Loaves

Whilst we were in Florida I found the most delicious banana nut bread in Bob Evans so I had to have a go at making some. I adapted a recipe and made these this afternoon and boy are they delicious!!

Banana Loaf
250g plain flour
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 teaspoon of baking powder
 115g butter
115g soft light brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 bananas
40g chopped hazelnuts
2 tbsp milk
Preheat the oven to 180 C / Gas mark 4. Lightly grease a 23x13cm loaf tin or 10 mini loaf tins.

In a large bowl, combine flour, bicarbonate of soda and baking powder.

In a separate bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar. Stir in eggs and mashed bananas until well blended. Stir banana mixture into flour mixture; stir just to moisten and fold in chopped hazelnuts. Pour mixture into prepared loaf tin or mini loaf tins.

Bake in preheated oven for 60 to 65 minutes for a loaf tin and 25 mins for mini loaf tins and until a knife inserted into centre of the loaf comes out clean. Leave to cool in tin for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire cooling rack.

If you can wait until they are cool, eat and enjoy!!
