With thanks to Tracy Gough for the inspiration for this card and for all her help. Do go and take a look at Tracy’s blog as she is uber talented and makes fabulous cards.
I made this for my SIL who is getting married for the 2nd time tomorrow and sadly none of the family will be there. I know she will appreciate this. All cut on Cricut, the ampersand card was made in DS and then decorated with swirls and a top hat, bouquet and tiara from Paper Dolls and embellished with some bling and ribbon! It was made at very short notice last night, as we only found out yesterday, so don’t look too closely!!
I saw the QK 12″ border dies the other day and thought I wonder if I can make something similar in the Design Studio so set about it and these are the borders I created (the negative cut) I am chuffed as they look really cute either as a strip cut out of the negative or the positive cut so you get 2 lots in one. I adore the brackets as these are quite ‘in’ at the moment. I learnt from Caz how to make them using the SU tab punch which is a great idea but you are restricted to one size, on the Cricut you can have them whatever size you like and the bit in the middle is a cute shape too!
The tulip border is lovely as it is but if you cut the tops of the flowers off you have the cutest grass to use on a card or layout. Ignore the blank space, that idea didn’t work first time!!
This card uses Plantin Schoolbook cartridge. The separate word you cut in a coloured or patterned paper and lay across the top of the word ‘Baby’ on the front of the card. It looks lovely just left like that very plain and simple in appropriate colours or with a ribbon tied around the ‘Y’ – you could of course put little baby embellishments across the words too. Grab the file here Have fun!
I have been designing some things in the DS and decided to share if anyone wants to nab them. My first one is a scalloped square window card. The file is here – it uses George and Accent Essentials.
I found a great tip on a UK template share site here about the problems some of us have with the templates on the US sites. Here is what Caz suggests:
How to correct the date error on US templates…
The easiest solution is to save all the templates that don’t work into a folder called “US Templates” and then when you want to open any of them to cut, go into “Control Panel” on your PC and change “Regional and Language Options” and change to “English (United States)” and then you will be able to open all the US templates. Remember once you have finished viewing/cutting the US templates to go back and change your system to “English (United Kingdom)”.
and it works!!!!!! Thanks Caz.
