I wanted nice luxury boxes for my jewellery to be sold in so printed my own cardstock using a PP design onto heavyweight linen card and made them myself using SCAL and my Cricut. Very pleased with the feel of them and think they look quite stylish in black and white.
I have wanted to make this style of card for ages but didn’t have the large Go Kreate dies. So I set about making the shape to cut a card and layers in SCAL and yesterday started it. I am quite pleased with how it turned out and the Beatrix Potter Two Bad Mice CD had the perfect image and backing paper on it to finish it off.
Using a Lori Boyd digi stamp Ella coloured with Copics and the design is inspired by my friend Andrea. The ribbon is from Ribbon Girl and the sentiment is a digi one from Squigglefly. I cut the card and layers on the Cricut, the files were made by me in SCAL. I embossed the top layer with a cuttlebug folder.
This is a commisioned card for a special lady but it’s secret at the moment!
is to teach myself Photoshop!! I have made a start today by making overlays using brushes and even if I do say so myself have done some nice ones!! I will use them to overlay on digi papers and print out for my card making. Sort of like stamping around the edges but the digi way!!
I was also going to buy the MS punch around the page double loop punch set but thought to myself I wonder if I could make that in SCAL so I did that this afternoon too! Saved myself £30!!
I have decided to add a page on here where I will offer all the SCUT files I make for free download, just click on the tab at the top of the page.
Quite a good start for 2011 – let’s hope it continues!!
Happy New Year everyone.
I am having great fun using SCAL and have made 3 scut files and thought I would share them with anyone who would like them. You can grab them from here:
These are frame shapes which can be used as a card or mat
which is a heart button with slots for ribbon.
Hope you like them, enjoy!
over on the SVG Cuts blog here go and take a peek – they are giving away some great prizes!
I discovered them yesterday quite by chance and have missed 7 of the days but am going to enter from now on!! SCAL is a fab programme that allows you to cut so much more using your Cricut (which I hope Santa brings me!) and gives you much more freedom. SVG Cuts have fantastic files some freebies and some at really reasonable prices which allow you to cut such cute things.
I deliberated about this for some while but today downloaded the trial version and it is fab – I would highly recommend it! You can get it from here and it makes the machine so much more capable. It is like having a robo combined with the Cricut!!
